7.7 billion people share this planet. We have oceans that separate us and borders that divide us. We have linguistic differences and cultural hurdles. This matters not. A smile is a smile. A tear shows emotion. Travel is the best way to embrace ethnic diversity and the abundant variations in style and appearance. The big differences will become little. Soon they will matter no more.
Personal Statement
Portrait photography is about the capture of emotion. Your subject should perceive your lens as a mirror and be assured they can show their true emotions. To do this a photographer needs to create a level of trust. For most of us this can take days (or months). When it comes to taking portraits during travel, the challenge has always been to build that trust in very limited time. More often than not I fail. That is why the photos displayed are so valuable to me. They are my success stories. I look upon these images as true emotions captured at a moment in time. I was lucky to be there, to connect with my subject and to tell their story.
